Triangle Garden

July 14, 2018

Those of you who follow me regularly know that my ANG chapter has done a Summer Challenge for the past three years. As VP Programs I designed last years and this years challenge. Triangle Garden is this years challenge.

One of the prime reasons we do this is to stretch our members stitching abilities. It also helps members learn that they can do some designing.

Last year we worked a heart shape in a monochromatic colorway with stitch use restricted. This year I decided to focus more on designing. Some members frowned when I told them there was no set design area, just a 4″ X 6″ blank rectangle. They were provided with several triangles of different sizes. All the triangles I provided were on the true diagonal but members are not limited to my triangles. I told them triangles not on the diagonal would provide compensation challenges. It was up to them. The instructions were simple. Using a minimum of five triangles (no max) create a Garden with flower beds and walkways. The view was as if you were looking down from a hot air balloon. Any threads, stitches or embellishments could be used.

I dream these up…..write directions but I never stitch before everyone has instructions. I take my own challenge.

I have started: but I have ripped as much as I have stitched.

I really want to do a brick path. I am working with an overdye. Using a brick stitch over 4 as shown above. Next day decided the size was out of proportion, so I restitched over two. Enlarged photos show both. Today I think I do not like the overdye. It might be too dark. So it will probably come out.☹️

More soon 🌹🌹🌹
