Far Horizons Complete !

March 18, 2011

At 8:20pm last night I finished the sky !!!! Yesterday was my deadline. Today I pack a bag and head to Tucson for a 2 day class with Betty Chen Louis. I will be taking Far Horizons to the framer on my way out of town.

The project for the Betty Chen Louis is really different than what I usually do.  I will be stretching myself.

Ohh! It’s beautiful. The sky is perfect! It’s always good to be reminded that sometimes you have to rip out (no matter how painful I find that) and try again.

Doesn’t it feel great to find the stitch perfect for the sky background. And, in seeing Betty Chen Loius’ cyclamen finished, it is making me want to take it out of the “later” area and finish it. I so love her designs! Kudo’s to two finished pieces.

Oops, I see that you are now taking Betty’s class, and didn’t finish it. You will love her class, she is a wonderful lady and teacher. I brought in a live cyclamen to use as a study during class. Enjoy your weekend!!!

    Hi Jan,
Your finished canvas is so beautiful! I was sitting at a table behind you at Seminar with Pat, Dr Pat and Ruth. Your workmanship is outstanding, and I really like your choice for the sky. Congratulations on finishing, finishing well, and continuing to learn. You are a fantastic model to the rest of us!
    Blessings, Cindy

Great job! The sky is perfect! Can’t wait to see it framed.
Have fun in your class. Looks like a hard project to me!

Hi Jan – I was so taken with your Indian Woman/Far Horizons, I have purchased the canvas. Would you mind sharing the thread/s you used, particularly on the grey pot? The texture on the pot is wonderful. Thank you for sharing so much on your blog with the ANG list.

Jan, You are always so generous to share your projects with us. And I was so taken with “Far Horizons” while it was in progress i had my local shop order it for me. I contacted you via this blog while you were traveling asking about what threads/stitches you used. Now that you are home, would you be able to share those? While in Santa Fe in Sept. I purchased a number of cards with mountain and sky views. There just isn’t anything like them any other place I’ve been.
Thanks again for sharing, and have a Merry Christmas.

Melita…Thanks for giving me an update….this is such a busy time of year. Just back from out of town. Know that you will run across it when and where you least expect and that you will let me know. If I can’t find anything else to stitch on…VBG….I will let you know.
